Summer, 2020

In response to social distancing restrictions put in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the City of Springfield issued an emergency ordinance allowing restaurants to occupy parking spaces for additional outdoor dining. In partnership with many downtown businesses, we re-purposed several single parallel parking spaces into a temporary outdoor dining spaces.

Additionally, a team of architecture students from Drury University helped develop a parklet design guide which was provided to businesses in the community as a resource to design and build their own parklet in line with the required design guidelines and permit process.
